How can technology help manufacturing businesses decarbonise while building resilience and strengthening competitive advantage?
Scottish Government Economy Directorate
The Challenge
Manufacturing is a key sector in Scotland providing business research, development and high quality employment to around 170,000 people. Manufacturing needs to play a key role in helping Scotland work towards Net Zero 2045 but at the moment it is difficult for manufacturers to understand their environmental impact.
This Challenge is to help manufacturers assess their environmental footprint. So, how can technology help manufacturing businesses decarbonise while building resilience and strengthening competitive advantage?
iSumio
The Solution
CarbonTracker123 empowers companies to decarbonise as easily as 1-2-3. It leverages new web protocols. This enables a paradigm shift away from estimated, untraceable data – towards accurate, traceable data. CarbonTracker123 makes it easy for companies to report their direct missions and manage their indirect emissions across complex supply chains.

The Opportunity
The biggest challenge facing humanity is how we tackle climate change – companies have an opportunity to make reduction of carbon emissions their next big competitive advantage. The global marketplace for decarbonising and for tracking and authenticating claims about carbon emissions is growing fast.
Next Steps
The beta launch of CarbonTracker123 is scheduled for 2023, enabling companies to manage carbon emissions across complex supply chains. We will release tools in 2022 that make it easy to authenticate claims about direct emissions and indirect emissions associated with purchased energy (scope 1 & 2).
