How can technology transform Building Standards Compliance to empower our citizens & contractors to produce safer and more energy efficient buildings?
Scottish Government: Directorate For Local Government And Housing
The Challenge
In any small construction project there is a requirement to have the work inspected by the local authority building standards team. These inspections help to ensure that the build is compliant with statutory standards and safe. These visits are requested by a notification from the Citizen/Contractor managing the build.
Often these notifications are received too late in the build or not at all, resulting in additional costs, time, stress & the owners being unable to occupy their building legally.
How can we use Tech to solve this, and provide data to support all parties in identifying common points of failure?
Hypervine
The Solution
Build Once is an online web application developed by Hypervine that simplifies the process of building standards compliance inspection and communication. The proposal is an AI project assistant that uses building warrant and Construction Compliance and Notification Plan (CCNP) to create schedules, automate tasks and manage notifications through the life of the project. All the user needs to do is provide the building warrant and Construction Compliance and Notification Plan — the rest is achieved through the system.

The Opportunity
Our product provides a much-needed solution for homeowners to streamline the building standards compliance process. By using our platform, they can save time, money and reduce frustration. We are excited about the potential in the UK market, starting in Scotland, where we believe there are many underserved users in the industry who will benefit greatly from our services. We plan to start by offering the most straightforward and revenue-generating services first, and continue to expand from there.
Next Steps
The key steps for creating the Build Once application and business over the next 12 months include product development, continued market research, early adopter onboarding and developing a marketing and sales strategy. Product development is crucial to ensure the SaaS application meets the needs of the target market and is user-friendly. Market research will help identify the target market and competition, as well as their pain points, to ensure the product is tailored to meet their needs. Early adopter onboarding will be important to test the product and gather feedback from a small group of users before launch.
